Vorim AI Has Joined UKAI

Vorim AI has joined UKAI, the trade association for UK AI businesses.

UKAI represents over 250 companies across the UK, from startups through to established firms, and its job is to give those businesses a voice with government decision makers. It runs events, working groups and the Sovereign AI Summit, and it puts the industry's view into consultations that would otherwise be answered mostly by very large companies and very large consultancies.

Why we joined

The rules for AI agents are being written now, not later. The EU AI Act became enforceable in August. The UK is deciding its own approach in parallel, and a lot of what gets settled in the next eighteen months will determine what a British company is allowed to ship, what evidence a regulator will accept, and how much of that burden lands on small teams rather than large ones.

We have a specific interest in one part of that. Vorim builds trust and safety for AI systems in regulated industries: cryptographic identity for agents, permissions checked before an agent acts, and a signed audit trail that an examiner can verify offline. Nearly every question we get from a bank or an insurer eventually becomes the same question. If an agent did this, what will you accept as proof?

That question does not have a settled answer yet. It should be answered by people who have had to build the thing, not only by people writing about it. Which is the short version of why we are in.

What we plan to contribute

Concrete things rather than opinions. We will take part in UKAI's consultation responses where they touch agent accountability, audit evidence and identity, and we will bring what we actually see in production rather than what sounds good in a position paper.

We are also recording an episode of UKAI's Business of AI podcast. The topic we have put forward is the gap between an agent log and an audit record: why the thing most teams are keeping today will not survive contact with an examiner, and what has to be true of a record before it does.

And there is a selfish reason worth admitting. Most of what we know about how regulated buyers think, we learned from talking to them. A network of 250 companies working through the same questions is a faster way to learn than doing it one call at a time.

The open bit

The protocol underneath Vorim, VAIP, is an open specification, and the SDKs are public on npm and PyPI. Standards work only matters if enough people agree on the same shapes, and trade bodies are one of the few places where that conversation happens across companies rather than inside one.
